I think diet is the foundation for health. If somebody isn't physically healthy ,then you can't expect to be healthy. You actually need to have EPA molecules in order to get good membranes for your cells so they function properly.

To best understand what the real issue is, here you must determine accurately if indeed your hair is actually thin, or if it is low density. By low density I mean the number of strands you have per inch of scalp. The norm per inch if the person is not suffering from low density hair (or the onset of balding) is around 700 per square inch of scalp. The normal (If there is any such thing as normal) head has around 130 square inches of scalp space. This would give a nice round ‘normal’ figure of 100,000 hairs on your head.

How many do you have? 130,000? 90,000? Hey even if you only have around 60,000 hairs to play around with, know that there is much that you can do to make the most of what you have.

On the other hand, if it is not low density hair that is your issue, and it is in fact a thin structure to your hair making it break easily, and be non-compliant with how you would like to see it, then read on. The traits of low density and thin hair can give much the same effect to the naked eye. Even if your head is densely populated with hair, if those hairs are very thin and fine, it may lead to the appearance of your suffering from baldness.

The problem with masking the appearance of baldness is that processing of the hair unnaturally can lead to damaging the hair, exacerbating the problem. You can use volumising shampoo to beat the band, you can blow-dry to give your hair that volumised look and feel, you can tease it with a hairbrush separating the strands, or even perm the hair, but what are you really doing here?

You are just giving a cover up to the problem, one that will cut the longevity of your hair. Some try to mask the appearance of the scalp through the patches of space available by playing with the colour of their hair so that the contrast is less severe, but again you are only damaging what you are trying so desperately to hold onto.

Baldness is not only a male phenomenon, and girls even in their teens (If that is your genetic birth-right) may find that their hair is starting to shed in higher levels than the natural (sub 100 strands a day.) While women are experts at covering up a thinning head of hair, it may surprise you to learn that up to half of women experience some form of excessive shedding.

Under normal circumstances thin hair means ‘fine’ hair, this doesn’t mean it has the ‘wow’ factor, and your hair which has a shorter diameter per strand than most heads of hair may be giving you the ‘woe’ factor. The protective ‘cuticle’ which naturally occurs, and covers each strand is obviously a thinner protective layer too, and with that, the hair is more susceptible to damage caused by beautifying treatments.

Products and treatments just give an illusion of volume, if you want to really change the very dynamic of your hair, then look at things from a more healthy perspective, healthy for you generally means the same thing for your hair, you can avoid that torturous search through the multiple aisles of hair related products which will more than likely do you damage by instead focusing on the body, and its needs.

Keratin, the protein from which hair is comprised requires the benefit of consuming protein in your diet in order to exist in the body. In this case you really are what you eat. By focusing on a well balanced diet rich in protein, you will notice that the growth of your hair is more balanced, and on the weighty side. Your strands will now grow thicker, changing the way your head appears, and removing the ‘sparse’ feel and look.

Just think natural. It is all well and good to take the easy way out though if you do not like consuming copious quantities of fruit and vegetables which also contain the nutrients that make for a healthy body, adding healthy body to your hair. Don’t be afraid of doing your body justice by putting in what you want to get out. Later you will find in detail exactly which nutrients you are seeking to give you that essential look of vibrancy for your hair.
